Rather than installing a gravel driveway entrance to their building, the customer wanted to support and protect their existing grass when accessing their building.
After mowing the grass and cutting it down to a minimal length, the grass mesh was rolled directly atop the existing grass and lightly staked using sod staples along the outer edges and corners of the material. Installed in late August in Ohio, it took just 4 weeks forthe mesh to become nearly invisible as it was completely covered by the grass.
Installing the mesh atop the vegetation provides a simple and quick solution that will mitigate mud, ruts and erosion in the high-traffic area.
week 1 & week 2
Tips & Key Points:
- No existing grass, no problem! If your goal is to start the process of establishing grass growth, simply smooth out your sub-base, install a layer of grass protection mesh, and seed using your method of choice.
- Mowing the grass once the mesh is installed is able to be done. The mesh is designed for foot traffic all the way up to vehicular/trailer traffic, so driving atop the surface with a mower is not an issue.
- How Quickly Will the Grass Grow; Growing Season, Water/Fertilizing, and Regional Specifics all play a large factor in how quickly the grass will grow.
Each region varies with climate, growing season, native vegetation, etc. so check with your local home and garden shop or nursery for advice specific to your region.
