As rain falls and water rushes through a sloped area, it takes material with it, leaving behind ruts, potholes and an overall uneven surface.
By confining that material, the water is able to drain out of the system and get where it needs to go, while geocell holds material in place. By reducing the displacement of material, rather it be carried away by rain water, or pushed down into the ground by vehicular, animal or foot traffic, the material is confined, allowing you to get more strength out of less material. This once eroded area was turned into a gravel access drive. Before laying and compacting gravel, geocell was installed, reducing the amount of material needed, and eliminating future maintenance hassles of regrading and resurfacing, as typically required of an unpaved, sloped surface.
